  • Can also recommend Qwant besides Ecosia.

For AI chatbots I’d recommend Ollama, Kobold.cpp or Llamafix.

for mail, Mailbox and Tuta are great too.

For delivery services, Bol.com is better indeed (has better labour rights too), but ideal is to just go shopping in the city itself. It benefits local smaller stores too!

    For YouTube, I’d recommend PeerTube.

For OS, it depends on how well you know Linux types. If you’re new to Linux, and just want something that works, Linux Mint.

In general, the best bet would be as decentralised, open source, and horizontally organised as possible. Defederate from large companies. The less chance then, that a bad agent will be able to embrace, extend, and extinguish.

  • In that case I would vaccinate the kid and not discriminate their care. They’re the victim of antivax parents, and not to be affected by them. See more here.

If they’re afraid of the government, then I’d support independent, local, decentralised vaccination campaigns. As long as it’s transparent.

And for needle phobias, well, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ there’s not really other ways. If there’s another I’d be happy to support that, though.

  • I dunno, not vaccinating is antisocial. I think vaccines must be provided for free and distributed widely.

And if some don’t want to get vaccinated, then tough luck. We are not going to let kids die because of someone spreading nonsense conspiracies.

In fact, not vaccinating everyone is favouritism, as it creates a bigger rift between rich and poor, informed and uninformed people.

If someone A were on a hospital bed and had dutifully vaccinated, but another person B who’s screaming and refuses vaccins (and consequently is more ill), then I think A deserves the care first. Person B chose a lie and harming people, over helping others. He can get fucked.

Ideally, I’d like for it to be voluntary too, but my solidarity ends at people not doing their part, be they oligarchs or antivaxxers.

  • It is wrong, because if you have the “choice” to, they almost certainly will be put up as a preset. And it enables your privacy to be compromised. Think of it like this: instead of having less choice by not having an option to connect to Microsoft/Google/etc., you get more liberty, privacy, and that gives you more choice to say what you want. Remember the Github dev who got blocked by Microsoft for his criticism? Exactly. It can happen to you too. And that’s not something that will just happen to high profile people, but everyone, unless if we stand against it.

For-profit is not a silly thing to object to. When the software has profit as motive, they gain an incentive to still snoop on data and sell it.

And that is exactly why privacy is necessary for all. Oligarchs love privacy (except for others), so they can hide their tax avoidance, and steal people’s hard work.

All who are not oligarchs, be they communist/socialist, christian democrat, liberal, or whatever else, would stand to benefit from privacy. And it is precisely for that reason that you calling out it as communist makes no sense.
