Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•Sometimes I forget how awesome Linux Gaming isEnglish
145·1 day agoI rolled my eyes real hard at this.
As a Linux supporter, this is absolutely not the case and it’s going to piss off every person who swaps to Linux thinking it’ll be this easy, and then when they’re hit with reality, switches back to Windows.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Who is an artist or public figure you still enjoy despite them being cancelled for bad behaviour?
5·5 days agoI argue about this all the time, especially if you have to work with non-coders. People who don’t code do not understand the big picture.
Steve Wozniak is brilliant, and had Steve Jobs explain the vision and sell it to non coders.
For Microsoft. That was Ballmer.
If youre a tech lead who lets a group of marketing folks try to define the course of any application, you need someone really strong at communication to fight for you. Unfortunately, Linus didnt have one and ripping people a new asshole was the next best thing.

5·5 days agoHe is why I believe in lead poisoning.
Too many times do I see creators who were brilliant and pushing a really specific forward thinking agenda, only for 1-2 decades later to be completely against it.

It’s the reason HP is banned in this household.

111·5 days agoThis one hurts because he really pushed an art form.
Cartoons were not at all well respected as a method of storytelling back in the day. And Walt threw himself into the fire pretty often to strike success and build the Disney empire.

321·5 days agoPrivileged white folk really don’t realize how much good Bill Cosby has done for poor kids. He contributed an insane amount to the community. He supported schools programs financially and helped a whole generation of black folk.
And when the news came out, you better believe we were all in the 5 stages of grief.
Just a complete 180 on his entire body of work. Like finding out Batman used homeless people for target practice. Or Jesus was a sith lord.

“What if American citizens decide to unite against billionaires?”
“What if Black Americans decide they want to be treated equally?”

Reddit@lemmy.world•Two accounts on Reddit post 30%-50% of all content on r/conservative on a daily basis except one day when there happened to be a power outage in part of Moscow
2·8 days agoCould be Russians also spamming Indian subreddits.
I wrote a post about it on Reddit calling it out, and it got taken down. My investigation was finding a dozen posters who posted a lot of “libtard”-esque posts with Biden or Kamala in conservative_memes, and then having lots of posts on like Bollywood, Indian food, and Indian politic subreddits.
You can do anything if you believe in yourself.
I love bud light!
It’s great for watering plants.
In reference to the Nasa part or the drinking beer part?
45 minutes per beer? You won’t be able to play Wizard Staff at that rate.
At my prime, depending on the beer, would go down like water. I could easily drink 10 coors light.
But hit me with 1-2 dark beers and I’m out (or extremely frisky)

My wife is a medical professional who works in this space and when I told her this joke, she shared that this is not how epidurals work at all.
It doesn’t go into the blood stream. It only effects that area. And it wouldn’t go to the brain.
She says it’s possible it’s a psychosomatic reaction. But leaning towards it being a lie.
Shame, solid joke.

21·11 days agoSame! I don’t know if this is the answer. But at least it’s something.
Back in my day, we had Big Brother Big Sister programs. But those programs were overwhelmed by need even when I was young.
And as kids (boys AND girls) turn to the internet and AI for direction about the opposite sex and how to treat each other, we need something to provide a another resource.

Technology@beehaw.org•Journalists convinced a AI Vending Machine Things to give them free stuff like a PS5
8·11 days agoThey’re absolutely trying to find use cases for their “solution”.
I haven’t used a vending machine in years (except in Japan). And so I for one welcome AI vending machines so I can fuck with them and get free stuff. Or until some vandals break shit.

Which is kinda my favorite thing to do as of late, and what I prefer AI be used for.
I’m not taking about building a suite of black box tools. But tiny scripts to scrape, shape, and generate reports. Things I used to pull in a dozen node libraries to do and manually configure and patch up.
You know, busy work.
