  • The cat died, I gotta deal with a man child having a tantrum, I spent 90 minutes on the phone listening to a colleague who was upset, and I gotta go tackle the boss next week even though I know he’ll never admit he’s wrong.

Overall I think the cat thing is the reason for my low mood.

Fingers crossed for a better week next time.

  • Sorry, your request can not be met.

This provision applies to online and distance selling purchases so the buyer has the opportunity to inspect, then accept or reject the goods.

It does not apply where someone has made their purchase in person and especially where they have not relied on the expertise of the seller.

Where someone has knowingly selected a product and moved forwards with a purchase they are liable for any resulting costs.

Their only remedy would be damages if they can show a good faith basis why the product is not as expected, or performing as expected.

Given the experience of 2025 there was no reasonable basis to expect 2026 to be other than what it is and so the liability remains with those who elected to continue engaging with this year and its related consequences.

    Not for me.

I get paid for 8 hours per week, at a rate thats roughly equivalent to the national average wage, to be available for eight hours on three different days.

I almost never actually do eight hours of actual work, so I feel like I’m okay with this deal. I turn off the phone evenings and weekends, I’m not the only one who can help with stuff most of the time.

I do get that a lot of stuff about being on call is abusive and exploitive, but most of the world is not the US.
