If these damn things are always-connected, always-sharing your location with manufacturer and their 1793 partners, they are able to have the vehicle direct you to an open charger.

Sony closed Studio Liverpool 14 years ago.

Hilariously, the video cartridges are blocked from working on GameCube Game Boy Player. We can’t have you watching videos you paid for, on the TV!

That reminds me of something, can’t remember what. Hmm… HMMMMMMMMMMM…

The capacitors are the same ones that are in every desktop PC power supply.
The flyback is a complex transformer with the thick cable sending the high voltage to the tube’s second anode.
The CRT itself can act like a giant capacitor. Eventually they figured out how to bleed the charge out when the TV is off.
1990s-2000s tubes: I discharge but don’t worry too much. 1980s-1990s tubes: I discharge several times, over the course of an hour or two. Those Sanyos that Nintendo used hold a nasty charge that comes out with a big SNAP!

I have a 27" Trinitron and could barely get it into my car by myself. Probably my best curb find ever.
Edit: 108lbs. And 900 US dollars new, in the year 2000; equivalent to $1,750 today.

I would say “mostly harmless”; a low but higher-than-background level of X-rays are expected from a properly functioning CRT TV. Flying in an airliner will expose a person to many times that amount.
Nobody calls sunlight “radioactive” either but it does expose a person to some ionizing radiation.

Oof. Actual fire? We had a CRT TV that would flash red once in a great while. It was fine until my mom found my brother asleep in front of it, flickering all red constantly, with smoke pouring out the back!
I know now that it was likely just a failed transistor on the neck board. I’ve seen a lot of smoke and some plasma but never a fire from a CRT.

TVs have their own degaussing coil built-in, it’s the short buzz you hear first when the TV is turned on.
If the metal frame around the front of the tube becomes strongly magnetized, that’s when the distortion is “permanent”, meaning it’s not permanent but not really feasible to fix.

I repair arcade games and often mention to curious onlookers: “Fifty years of putting miniature particle accelerators in every home and business!”

In fact, there wasn’t a lot of options for a desktop-focused Linux.
You got it right, here. I used Ubuntu 20 years ago because it was the only Linux distro I found that gave a GUI at all out-of-the-box on an average consumer video card. I still dual-booted for games, OFC.

What a rebel, he “can smell a pig a mile away”… so that he can find them, arm them with the military’s hand-me-downs and remove all their accountability?

I installed from F-Droid.
I was seeing the pentagram logo with “upgrade” and a nag screen instead of the actual cleaning step, after scanning.
It turns out I’m a dummy who was backing out of the donation website after it loaded but before it could set the flag in the app telling it that I at least looked at the donation page.
Is it just me, or does SD Maid not do anything it advertises unless you pay?

Thanks! It played BAttERY Face Factory The Sims Edition NoCD, immediately recognized as Commando theme by Rob Hubbard on C64.

Most installers wouldn’t care if the disc got temporarily ejected but you risked AutoRun opening another instance of the installer, bringing your PC to its knees. XD

n00bs used “nocd”.
I loved when the keygens had MIDI prog/metal. Back then, that reminded me of cracktros on C64 games.
Wow. Top Ten Incels of Lemmy are all here, and I know I’m not even seeing all of the comments because some are already blocked.
