Two friendships that I can think of, one was rekindled, one wasn’t and I’m not thinking of renkindling it either.

The first one was because my friend moved to another country and we just lost touch. I talked to him after about a year, he got angry at me because “why didn’t I write before”, I just Uno Reversed his ass and asked him the same question and he said “damn bro u right” and started talking again.

The second friendship, he started using me as his chauffeur, he was invited to my house at 3pm because I had university tests the next day, he showed himself up at 11pm with someone I didn’t know and I had to let them in to stay the night because my country wasn’t the safest.

He got drunk that night, made a mess in my house and left the next morning without saying shit and he was supposed to be my best friend. After that I straight up stopped talking to him.

Nowadays, my “best friend” has moved away from 3 different countries because he’s a drug dealer and he’s always using the product he has to sell or losing it somwhere and several people are looking for him, he lost 5 kg of cocaine in Argentina. The reason I know is because the first friend I mentioned in this comment is also a friend of his and he actually keeps up with his antics.

I was working at a small gaming studio and talked on the phone with German Garmendia because we wanted to make a game featuring him and his staff. He’s a youtuber, I think he was called “the pewdiepie of latin america” or something like that? He had way too many subscribers, I think about 50M

He was a nice individual from what I remember, very hard working and friendly. I think he was recently “cancelled” though but idk I don’t keep up with those things.

I didn’t meet him per se, we just talked on the phone, and he’s not like… A hollywood celebrity or amything but it’s the closest I get.

How does he get to charge for the original icon? How the fuck does that even happen?

Just one, Interstellar. I don’t watch a lot of movies but that one just hits different, I’ve watched it 7 times, could watch it again.

I mean, to be honest, I feel like it’s the quality of the content in there. I used my old phone (the one I use for apps like threads) to get a threads account and people are using Threads as if they’re using instagram.

For example, you see a pocture of someone or a drawing, you get into the post to see the 45 comments people left and all of them are:

And so on.

At least in twitter there is more “discussion” (albeit toxic and usually useless) or at least more people sometimes talking about interesting things.

I’m not a US citizen so I’m not sure how this works, so if I say some stupid shit you can call me out on it, but, is it not a ban only in state devices/networks?

Why is that impeding researches/studies? What is stopping them from just using a personal device on a personal network, or at least a “work” (but still personal) device/network?

I just don’t understand that part.

I once told someone they couldn’t park their Ferrari behind the restaurant I was working in because it was the place where the trucks would unload the food and he would get a fine.

He just replied with “it’s ok, the fine is just what the parking lot is charging me to park there then”. I said I would call the towing company and he said “ok, I’ll just Uber home and pay to get my car back”.

Venezuela, where I was born (although I don’t live there anymore). However, there were way more Santeria small sacrifices (chickens) in Miami, FL when I used to live there, walking by the streets and actually looking at the bushes next to the streets you realize it’s really common, every now and then you find a bloody plastic bag with a beheaded chicken/rooster and hanging chicken legs.

Backstory: I met my first girlfriend when I was around 17. Then I met her family, and during that time, O developed arthritis.

But then he told my girlfriend’s parents that he wanted to see me again because he meeded to “perform” to be able to help me with his prayers.

For some reason, I didn’t even pay attention to this and just said sure.

A week goes by and I am going, again, to the same place with priest with my gf’s parents. The difference is that, this time, there is a giant box in the back of the car.

I get there and they take me to the second floor of thr place. The floor is completely messed up woth dirt all over the place and weird artifacts, cockroaches, spiders, and a hole on the rooftop.

They tell me to take my clothes off (except my underwear) and pray to a god (I think it was called Oshun? I don’t remember).

After chanting and praying, they tell me to lay down on the ground looking up. I do so and they proceed to take a small calf out of the box, decapitate and dismember it next to me, and afterwards putting the body in top of me in the form of a cross, all while chanting, singing, dancing, etc.

After that they told me to bathe in a specific river using oranges as a sponge.

The whole experience was fucking surreal, after that, I just reject almost everything that has to do with religion.

I wonder if advertisers have been leaving Reddit and if so, how many? I’ve honestly never seen a social media website/company ask for advertisers like this tbh.

I’m not a lot on social media to begin with, so I’m not sure.

15 minutes if you actually read the tweets, but when this “reading limit” is actually “impression limit”, and Twitter counts an impression as a tweet just loading on your feed (I didn’t know this). About 2 minutes of continuous scrolling gets you rate limited.

It just displays a message saying “Cannot retrieve Tweets at this time, please try again later” after a couple of minutes of browsing.

Is there anything I should look out for in particular?

Not really, I mean, let me explain to you my process to see if that helps

First of all I have 3 backups… 1 in cloud, 1 in secondary ssd, 1 in external ssd. When I download something from a source that I’m not sure about specifically in 1337x I:

• Check the comments first, if there are a majority of people complaining then I don’t download
• If there are no comments, I check the profile of the uploader and check comments on other uploads. Seeing this guys’ other uploads it seems that his content is ok and there is no need to worry about it.
• Just in case, or if I’m still not sure, I run it through virustotal.
• If I’m STILL not sure, I just use a VM and install it on the VM. If something happens I just delete everything and my computer is fine. And even if somrthing happens I’m prepared to do a clean install without worrying about my files.

I’m not sure and someone can correct me please if I’m wrong, but if the drive is installed in the same computer it doesn’t make a big difference. VM is always better imo.

I don’t know who that is, but I generaly encourage new pirates to download things that have comments so you can see whther it works, doesn’t work, or it’s a bad actor.

In rhis case I just wouldn’t download at all due to the lack of comments. But if it’s the only option you have, you can always try to download through a VM and check virustotal beforehand.

Completely agree with you, for me Reddit was also Sync, that’s why I’m deleting my account on the 30th. Without Sync there is no Reddit for me.

And expecting the closure of old.reddit.com (because it’s definitely gonna happen), not even the web version will be an option for me.

I completely forgot about the Tencent stake! Wasn’t Reddit banned in China though?

I wish everything went back to normal (that includes the old Reddit design/website). And it’s kind of unfair that a website that lives thanks to their user’s content is the one earning the money and their users are getting stabbed in the back like this.

If anything, the API money should be going to creators/mods imo.

I understand that, but it still should have been more than 48 hours, that is not nearly enough for a protest, this is at least in my opinion. And yeah this wouldn’t apply to the subs that are staying dark indefinitely.

As for Lemmy, I’m genuinely glad that it’s responding well, not having to deal with a clunky, slow website feels much better. I really hope that Lemmy grows, imo it’s better when there’s competition.

I stopped using Fb years ago and had to use it again not long ago because I moved countries and the demographic here can’t stop using Fb/Instagram/Whatsapp for everything related to business.

But if it uses ActivityPub (and from my understanding that’s decentralized), couldn’t I just use my Mastodon account to interact with people there? Would that mean that my Instagram (or, in this case, “Threads”) account can potentially communicate with Mastodon accs as well?
