  • 150K for a dev in Switzerland is a very high salary. 145K for a senior dev with architecture and product ownership, maybe, but a simple senior dev is usually more around 130K. I’m a dev working in Switzerland. Also even though Switzerland is small, there are important salaries differences between towns. That’s a high salary in Zurich, way too high for Neuchatel for example. Austria is cheaper.

[edit] Ooooooh forget what I said. I didn’t consider the amount was in USD and not CHF. 150K is actually 118K in CHF, which is a good salary don’t get me wrong, but not very high. Perfectly on par for a senior dev. Cost of life in Switzerland is VERY high.

  • That’s basically google’s main business. Their business is not in web search, video platform, mobile OS, email or AI, it’s ad. People forget Google is an ad company, that uses any tool available to give you ad. If it’s free and not open source, you are the product. Either to sell your attention and availability to companies through ads, or to use your data to do profiling, build a more vicious ad platform and sell your data on the side.

  • This. I’ve been told for years to sit with my back straight, everything at 90 degrees (elbows, knees) while working. A lot of hernia problems. Eventually went to a physio, told me it’s BS. My hernia nerve was inflamed, had to do some light exercise to get it fixed, then he told me “just sit comfortably, and change positions often”. No problem since. Sitting straight as an I for hours is not good at all actually !
