Such as? If you have a reasonably priced OLED dumb tv with HDR and 120FPS up your sleeve you will be my favorite internet friend.

Game consoles.
I wish there were more high quality dumb TVs. Most of the dumb TVs I can find today are both very expensive and lack the features I’m looking for like HDR and 120hz+ frame rates.
I know the argument is that the privacy invasions are subsidizing the cost of the TV but I have yet to see non-anecdotal evidence of that and suspect that the price of the TV would be the same either way because the market will only support so much expense.
Big Foot actually being a catchall term for major shoe manufacturers is one of my new favorite things.
Maybe they started the ape-man Bigfoot rumors to distract people from the true evil of Big Foot.
A much luckier researcher, meanwhile, measured the lengths of their flaccid nose.
Comedy gold.
The cut off “listen here” at the bottom took it past the edge of believability for me, but up to that point I was like 50/50 haha.
No way, I make my living typing; I am very very careful about this and I’ve been super successful. Only three fingers lost.
My dad always told me that life begins at 30.
I turn 40 this year, and I really agree with him. The first three decades were just awkwardly fumbling around and getting nothing done because I was a dumbass. The last ten years I really got it together and I feel comfortable with myself for the first time ever.
I dislike the narrative that you can’t be happy as an adult. Yeah having nothing to do and no responsibilities was cool, but I would not trade what I have now to have it back.
Adult me has an awesome wife and kids, good friends, hobbies that I wouldn’t have dreamed of as a kid, a tool bench full of fun power tools, and freedom to use my free time basically however I want.
I am way happier as an adult than I was as a teenager.
It’s not even a definite cockup, because being a large data provider means you are constantly under attack by intelligent, knowledgeable people intent on getting in. It’s surprising that it doesn’t happen far more often.
The real problem is that all this is being stored in the first place.
A device that can do all of the things a phone can do without needing to find and install apps, that can learn from your usage patterns in effective and practical ways, and is unobtrusive to wear all the time sounds pretty fucking cool to me.
That is the promised future that AI devices are selling; I thought I was pretty clear that this device was never going to deliver on it.
Tribespeople became so addicted that Marubo leaders, fearing that history and culture — which is passed down orally — could be lost forever, they have now limited access to the internet for two hours each morning, five hours each evening, and all day Sunday.
That is still so much internet, we would probably all be healthier following that guideline.
I think it would be really cool if it worked like they wanted us to believe it would. Like, it could be one of those “change the way we live our day to day lives” events to the like of of smartphones becoming mainstream.
This device was never going to live up to that or get anywhere close to it, but I can’t blame people for really wanting to believe.
I had a setup that turned on the action camera when I put my thumb on the steam decks left stick, so I was always in normal mode unless I was actively looking around or moving.
It was pretty natural and the best experience I came up with, but I still felt like it was a compromise I was frustrated to have to make.
I set up a pretty workable controller config that I played with for like two months, but even with many hours invested in fine tuning it I just felt like I was fighting the game’s UI and I gave up.
What’s really frustrating is that the game is totally playable with a controller. ANet just needs to update the menus and it would be a fantastic experience.
If we’ve just met, not at all.
If we’ve been best friends for 10 years, that would sting a little.
I think getting the moderator mails was just too much. Like it’s a platform filled with people racing to the bottom and you get to see all the worst as a direct feed.
I don’t know how Reddit mods do it.
It’s a sad time to be alive when people genuinely believe that being openly hostile and combative is the same thing as constructive criticism.
Banning seems totally reasonable to me. Nobody is obligated to put up with that shit.
I had to stop using Next Door entirely.
I set my neighborhood up years ago because I thought it was just a fantastic idea for a place to reach out to people who actually live near you. Reality has not borne that out.
ND seems like the place to go if you hate yourself and your neighbors and you really want everyone to know about it. It was like 70% busybodies and paranoid old people, 20% lost pet reminders, and 10% people being horrible to each other via the comments on the other 90%.
Also, I am now painfully aware of how much people hate the homeless. Just loathe and despise them for the crime of existing; while blissfully unaware that it’s just because they’re scared of how close they are to being homeless themselves.
Fuck them and their philosophically similar but marginally divergent opinions.
