I am going to skip LCD tvs altogether. Right now I am still using my first hd tv, a Plasma TV from 2008, and when I replace it, it will likely be with an OLED.
Maybe they should focus on what their user base wants instead trying to be TikTok or whatever is hot this week.
I pay for a youtube premium family plan. Best money I spend monthly. I want to support the youtube creators that I watch, I don’t have to see ads (I block them anyway), and I get a music service included.
They will just have to create a fee to “cover the costs” of having to tell you what they are going to charge you.
Can’t mourn reddit too much, so much good stuff is already here, and if one instance tries shady things, then you can just hop on over to another one.
Pretty similar for me, but I never did Fark. Funnily enough after digg was sold and relaunched I started using the new digg pretty regularly. It isn’t old digg, but it does find and aggregate decent news and entertainment links.
Music in restaurants and bars is just too loud. I know why the music is loud, but I am still going to shake my fist at it like Grandpa Simpson.
They can insist on being fairly paid, but the users have to think the transaction is fair as well. Ask Digg how much their platform was worth when all of the users were gone.
Nice, I have used a lot of apps over the years, but this is the one that has stuck with me.
Is Infinity FOSS? Its my preferred client, but I had no idea it was open source. Would be great if it supported Lemmy.
I can’t imagine most people will want to wear that headset for more than the 2 hours the battery lasts. I know I haven’t when wearing existing vr headsets. I seem to max out at about 30 minutes.
I think to get to a consumer version Apple will want to drop all of the glass and metal and go for lighter plastic instead. They need to drop the secondary outward facing screen as well for weight, battery and cost savings.
If things can get comparable to thicker framed normal glasses, that will be when VR/AR can really become mainstream.
I was hoping for a switch 2 this year, but that is seeming less likely now.
If they don’t change course they will. But even if they do change course on API fees, if they still plan on an ipo, then its only a matter of time until they find another way to enshitify their site.
I figured why wait to make the switch, hence this comment is here, and not on Reddit.
That would be nice, but I dont think it is realistic. Small communities can share a culture, and people can treat each other humanely. Once too many people are there it all goes down hill.
I have been trying to comment instead of just lurking. Its against my natural tendencies, but I want to see this place live, so I thought I would be the change I want to see in the world.
Social media so far has not been replaced with a like for like service when something falls out of popularity. Facebook was not just a Myspace clone. It probably won’t be Bluesky or Mastodon that replace Twitter for most of their current users.
If the ability to be a digital nomad had occurred earlier in my life I probably would have gone for it. Now I kind of don’t want to be away from my parents because I know they won’t be around forever. Plus I have a house and other commitments I don’t want to be away from.
I am not logging back into Twitter. They already lost my trust.
