Yes, it’s very fun. I’m not sure why you’re so pessimistic on it, it’s another good DOOM game and vast majority of reviewers never get paid to hype something up. I’m not too far in it yet but first impressions is that it’s closer to Doom 2016 than Eternal, there isn’t much platforming or acrobatics.
The only thing I’m not sold on is the story. They added a lot of story and cutscenes. I have no idea what’s going on honestly. Feels a lot like they added too much Warhammer 40k to the Doom franchise.

They did HD versions for PS3 which regained some interest in the franchise, but then they just ported the PS2 versions for PS4/PS5…
If we can have those HD versions on Steam, it’d be a huge deal. Right now most people can’t play the game without jumping through hoops. As an aside, you can play the decompiled versions on PC using OpenGOAL.

Qualcomm’s next generation of chips are expected to be alot better, and Microsoft have been improving their x86->arm translation layer lately. It’s too early to tell if a qualcomm handheld is a bad idea.

If new handhelds are more performant and power efficient, there will be demand for it.

It’s an update with some content, not sure if it’s as big as an expansion. The game should be working fine on Linux.
I don’t understand how people listen to audiobooks. I tried multiple times to give it a try but always zone out after 5 minutes and miss parts of the story.

Despite getting advertised as an ARPG, it’s really not. It’s more like dark souls but with random loot. The gameplay is very slow and methodical, and it’s very difficult. Managing loot isn’t that bad, I just went with whatever I found and didn’t have to worry too much about finding the perfect weapons/armor.
simple@lemm.eeOPto Games@lemmy.world•Ori studio in crisis: No Rest For The Wicked could be their final gameEnglish191·7 days agoThe game is self-published. They used to be published by Private Division but went indie when that company got sold. The game had legitimately troubled development.

Between Clair Obscur which seems to be a game of the year contender, Oblivion Remastered, Doom The Dark Ages, and later this month Elden Ring Nightrein… Too many good games lately.
The downside of opencritic is that the barrier to entry is so low you eventually get stupid quotes like that.

Sony and Xbox absolutely reserve the right to brick your console. IIRC Sony bricks stolen Playstation consoles if they ever connect to the internet. This is nothing new.
Most of those are old reviews, the final patch which includes major reworks came out a few days ago. It’s in a good state now and worth getting.

Also, Child of Light by Ubisoft.
This is my biggest complaint now that I’m farther along. There genuinely isn’t much reason to switch weapons, especially with ammo so easy to get just by spamming melee. Since you can just stand in front of everybody and parry, range doesn’t matter at all.
