It could be different but that is what the companies are stating as their operational life span when they report their financials. They used to say they would only last 4 years…

Haven’t seen this mentioned yet: the RAM they are making for these AI chips are built to burn up after 6 years. The RAM is built into the processing units to reduce latency but the whole unit is designed with short planned obsolescence so burning out after 5-6 years is expected. The assumption is that by the time they burn up they you will replace them with a more energy efficient unit.

92·11 days agoI phone banked for Harris but she was making our jobs harder by taking unpopular positions. What will you have me say to the voter who won’t vote for a Newsom presidency because they take AIPAC money? Because I was told to just move on and call the next person.

His donation pledge was more of a flex because he’s increased his net worth more than he has donated. Also, people who were friends with Epstein should not get to decide where that money goes.
The guy is on the Epstein list and his wife left him because he was too friendly to the guy…
He also fucked over our public education system

You can focus on the morality but I was trying to bring your attention to the personal health aspect of the product.
There’s a difference between engaging in capitalism to gain an advantage and buying junk food to satiate your hunger because it is convenient.
The important thing is that CGPT did not inconvenience you personally by any of the other myriad pitfalls that isn’t worth mentioning because you are not experiencing them at this moment. Trust the convenience and Obey!

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•People who say 'the rich get richer, the lazy live for free, and the middle class pays for it all' don't realize how expensive it is to be poor and how close middle class is to being below the poverty
1·19 days agoMost people are living paycheck to paycheck… But if you mean owning stock or a retirement portfolio makes you a capitalist then I think that is still incorrect. People who actually own the company of whose stock you “own” can make decisions that will ultimately decimate your retirement savings while enriching themselves.
I am seeing ads where businesses will try to influence AI to recommend your brand. I don’t know if they actually work but it strikes me as everything we hate about SEO but shoved into every facet and interface that a capitalist owns.

Reddit@lemmy.world•Old post, but this toxicity is a reminder of why reddit sucks.
3·24 days agoLet’s think that through. For that to work we only want the bot to respond to toxic AI slop, not authentic humans trying to engage with other humans. If you have an accurate AI slop detector you could integrate that into existing moderation workflows instead of having a bot fake a response to such mendacity. Edit: But there could be value in siloing such accounts and feeding them poisoned training data… That could be a fun mod tool

6·25 days agoYou don’t fight bullshit with more bullshit. The problem is people passing bots off as an authentic human response. Doing more of that with a different ideological slant doesn’t make things more alive, just dead with different aesthetics.
