I lived through those times, this is different. The punishment for false hope is the lesson that things can always get worse.

We’re cooked because our leaders are pumping the AI bubble while crashing the rest of the economy. When that bubble pops those programmers are going to have to find a job in a nuclear sized crater of where the economy used to be.
zbyte64@awful.systemsto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•If the USA and China goes to war, how likely will Chinese-Americans end up in "internment camps" (aka: concentration camps) like what happened to Japanese-Americans during WW2?9·6 days agoIt’s not even a question when we’re literally fighting for due process.
If we can’t explain the difference, AI must be sentient? This argument reminds me of “God of the gaps”.
So use it on things no one cares about, got it.

zbyte64@awful.systemsto Global News@lemmy.zip•China launches military drills around Taiwan1·17 days agoThe premise was that there really isn’t a historical equivalent. The analogy being shit is kind of the point.
zbyte64@awful.systemsto Global News@lemmy.zip•China launches military drills around Taiwan1·17 days agoLike I said, hard to find a historical equivalent. Like which side would you compare the execution of landlords? The north paid the slavers restitutions instead.
zbyte64@awful.systemsto Global News@lemmy.zip•China launches military drills around Taiwan1·17 days agoThat is a much better example. I will borrow this for the future. Thank you.
zbyte64@awful.systemsto Global News@lemmy.zip•China launches military drills around Taiwan56·17 days agoIt’s hard for Americans to think of a historical equivalent. Imagine if Texas managed to splinter off and join the UK common wealth during the Civil war.

I’m old and autistic and not confused by the fact trans women are women. Hope that helps.

Too bad the other posts where people took the time to explain to you that the CCP isn’t what you claimed it was, has been removed.
zbyte64@awful.systemsto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•How can anyone in good faith support China and Russia1·19 days agoThat is the definition of liberalism but that is not the loved experience of unhoused people in the USA. If you are unhoused there are a lot of moral judgements that come along with that.
zbyte64@awful.systemsto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•How can anyone in good faith support China and Russia152·19 days agoHarder? Being queer and unhoused can be pretty damn bad in the states. In China your boss might say something bad but you don’t have to worry about being homeless.

Also, there is searchable queer content on RedNote, the app own by the CCP
I’m surprised it didn’t end as a crypto announcement
