What about nonbinary or genderfluid people? While it’s great some trans people are being legally recognised, it’s still a very narrow and binary view of gender.

Unless it was very subtle sarcasm, it was denying the existence of nonbinary people, which is transphobic. Now, I think you should be allowed to say whatever you think, I was just pointing out that it’s against the rules of the instance you chose to comment on.

Eh? Trans is someone who transitions from man to woman or vice versa. A person just saying they’re non-binary is not trans, because they haven’t transitioned. There is no third state to transition to.

Trans people are people who’s gender doesn’t align with their biological sex. Nonbinary people don’t identify as male or female, so unless they’re intersex, their gender doesn’t align with their biological sex. Genderfluid is a subset of nonbinary people who’s gender changes over time, between any of masculine, feminine, or agender (having no strong connection to a gender identity).

Therefore, nonbinary people come under the trans umbrella, although some would choose not to identify as trans for several reasons (for me it’s mainly because trans is still mainly associated with binary trans people, and I don’t want to muddy the waters or confuse anyone).

Someone doesn’t have to have transitioned to be trans, although often they want to transition, they just have to identify with a gender which isn’t the same as their sex.

at the same time they issued new guidance alongside the legislation, stating that it would include women as defined by the Equality Act - and also the Gender Recognition Act (GRA), to the effect that a full gender recognition certificate could be taken as a declaration of someone’s sex “for all purposes”.

For Women Scotland challenged this guidance in a fresh judicial review, which ended in defeat.

Judge Lady Haldane ruled in December 2022 that the definition of sex was “not limited to biological or birth sex”, but included those in possession of a gender recognition certificate.

That ruling is what For Women Scotland are challenging at the Supreme Court.

They have already lost one appeal in the Scottish courts, but judges in Edinburgh agreed to push the case straight to the Supreme Court in London for a definitive ruling.

At some point they are going to have to call it quits. They already “won” by getting self-identification removed.

Supreme Court hearing case on definition of a woman

May I suggest “annoying outgrowth around the pussy”?

Before you start shouting: joke, people. Peace.
