I lost all interest after the controversies about Christian Kane and the real reasons they couldn’t film the revival in Portland were revealed
What’s this? I can’t find a single article on either topic.
Nvmd, added “controversy” to the search. It appears to be a story only carried by one local newspaper so add “Portland mercury” to the search if you’re also confused.
Yeah, it was surprising to me that nobody else picked up the story, everybody covered it when it was about Timothy Hutton
Which is funny because I think he has been in fewer things…just more famous when he was younger.
They’ve dumbed down shows like this waaaayyy too much. I get that a lot of tv is made now for second screen watching, which is fine, but I don’t have to watch it. Leverage, and Leverage Redemption both fell victim to this. I stopped watching Leverage after the first season because they immediately dumbed it down after that and IMO ruined it.
What was dumber between seasons 1 and 2?
They started doing the thing that all shows are doing now. One, is dumbing down the plotlines in general, but the far more annoying thing is the trend of showing a flashback of a thing that literally happened five minutes ago in the show and here it is again to make it super obvious that this was the super sneaky thing that they did to advance the plan/heist/plot.
I fucking hate that trend. I’m not a second screen watcher. When I watch something, I watch it and pay attention because I want to be engaged in it. I know I’m in the minority and no amount of removed will change that, but it has caused me to abandon a lot of shows. Most recently Matlock and High Potential.
I’ll agree with high potential, it seems like they took the Sherlock approach of “smart people are smart and magic”.
I find the knives out guy to do a better job at showing you something in a way that makes it clear this will be important later please pay attention without forcing you to if you’re not in the mood. For example on the latest knives out, the ring or the

Tomb, snow globe, etc
It’s not perfect, but like it gives you a chance to think about what’s coming up and theorize what’s happening without being distracting. I also like that they dont really change the content so much as the narrative:
Tap for spoiler
Ex the “harlot” grace tearing the church apart and hitting the little girl and then you hear it from a more true pov and see what an unreliable narrator the last version of the scene was.
I do agree the flashbacks are a bit egregious in leverage but they do some nice ones where they hide stuff off camera in the original scene and then you see the different angle and it’s like ohhhh that’s where that happened.
That having been said I think season 2 was their weakest by far in every direction…and not cause of the pregnancy, I would love if Jeri Ryan had been permanent. The stories were just weak to me.
This is a bummer to hear. I really love the ‘Leverage’ concept. Con artists and criminal type going after “The rich and powerful” is fun stuff, even if this revival wasn’t as good as the original, it still was a lot of fun.
