Fuck them. i have already opted-out for your tracking shit, why are you keeping nagging me each week (ruffly) ?

Fuck them also to disable “incognito mode” on mobile after idle. Real bastards.

Yes, I try to avoid their products but 10y+ habits is hard to beat.

Protip: You can effectively get rid of Google Services on whatever is your current phone, without even needing root, let alone installing a custom ROM.
      Check out this guide: https://www.xda-developers.com/uninstall-carrier-oem-bloatware-without-root-access/

Keep in mind though: if your phone uses Google apps for Dialer, Messages, and Calendar (and you need those features because most likely you want your phone to be a phone, not a mini-tablet), you will also need to uninstall those app and install full replacements.
I’m personally going with: QKSMS for messages, and Lineage OS dialer and calendar (APKs extracted from a Lineage OS ROM for a random phone and the same Android version as my phone)

Lineage OS ? Built by unknown amateurs with a hell of non-audtiable toolchain (show me the last audit compaign)

I will stay on iOS* with Firefox and use Searx.

      • yeah, Apple is less offensive than Google.

Don’t downvote me to hell, please.

Vanilla AOSP is an option if you violently distrust Lineage. Or if other projects like Divest, Calyx or Graphene are acceptable, buy supported hardware. A used Pixel, for example, is much less than an iPhone.

I don’t have anything against Lineage but the claims have to be taken with a grain of salt for anything concerning security.

I heard about Graphene and it might be a more credible solution, but I have lost interest into opensource mobile, to be honest. My iPhone is just a glorified 2FA device for work and administrative entities (so closed source) with Telephone capability (GSM network is proprietary).

Yeah, I getcha. As a green fellow, I’m not yet much help for evaluating the security of projects by more than hearsay.

Compatibility with work and network requirements is unfortunately a pain still. It seems as though you might just be best off as you are.
