There are so many psychos in America, hard to pick one. I would rather send Sam Altman a message, I believe he is the sickest of all of them.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Would AI Be Hated As Much If It Wasn't As Resource Intensive?
4·2 days agoI think its hated because its about building dystopia. We see the datacenters coming up now that are the core infrastructure for global high tech dystopia and people still think it’s about chat bots.
History books will wonder why people didn’t stop it.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What have you completely stopped buying because the price has gotten ridiculus?
4·2 days agoThat’s truly insane, 20 dollars… Wtf.
I guess they rely on the truly stupid and lazy to pay those prices.

21·2 days agoPC upgrades of course, but also I refuse to pay for a coffee out these days. Sometimes I do it if I’m with someone but never alone. It’s very expensive.
Also burgers out, I never buy them, but also because they are not very good and the price is ridiculous. Last time I checked, Burger King double whopper menu was 14 dollars in my country. Probably more expensive now.
Awful when db has problems. The stress level of the admin must be through the roof.
It will be OK.

12·3 days agoI get it, I also think capitalism is a very low consciousness system where you destroy everything in the end. I often feel this place is ridiculous because of that. Some kind of school for the most retarded. However, I got put here so… Maybe I’m not so smart.

Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Why people Pirate?English
11·3 days agoYes people make creative things, but they don’t make games that requires a game studio and give them away for free. I feel that you should understand this. Perhaps you don’t.
I pirated as a kid too because I didn’t have money and I loved games. But I knew that others paid for their games and that’s why they could make them.
Now as an adult, I’m paying for my games. Because I have the money and it’s worth it. If you don’t, that’s fine too. I dont judge. But just quit the stupid copyright argument. :)

63·4 days agoSure but game companies need to get paid or they won’t make games. Right? Luckily there are many others who pay for games so you can pirate, but without them paying, there wouldn’t be a product you can pirate.
I just picked a game company as an example but of course you understand this.

23·5 days agoYeah good points. I dont know where it gets its raw data but it’s capable of modifying and thinking about ingredients, so I think its behavior is superior to just recepie sites.

22·5 days agoFor me, I just got used to it being “mostly” correct. Im not betting my life on these things. I use them for recepies and im not putting poison in my food if it would say so. :)

23·5 days agoIt’s generating recepies. So you can say you want certain ingredients and you don’t like others, ask it to make a list of stuff you could try, and you will get that. Also, you can ask it during cooking exactly how to cut the pieces for best result, or if you want something more spicy and so on. It’s much better than a static recepie. This is more like being able to talk about a dish and adjust it according to your taste, replace certain ingredients if you like, and so on.
Im using it daily and prefer it very much to browsing recepie sites.

25·5 days agoIt’s not mixing spam. It comes up with great recepies that are perfectly seasoned and taste great. Sounds like you never tried it and you are projecting your dislike for AI on something you don’t know.
I get that a lot of people on Lemmy don’t like Ai but come on, we shouldn’t lie about stuff it actually does well. I think it has a few very good usecases and this is one. Free recepies that work well.

5·5 days agoI think you shouldn’t even use this place. None of these apps are contributing to you being a healthy, stable, happy human being.
Its just strangers voting and commenting without ever meeting eachother, and being incredibly brainwashed by the specific content that is allowed to be seen. People end up in perception bubbles here and everywhere on so called social media.
You should not use phone apps at all for spending time. But thats hard for most since we are tired, we don’t have any interests outside of work, we don’t know that many people in real life, and we are lazy.
Is this better than cable tv? Sure. But it’s no substitute for actually having something going on in your life that you feel passionate about and want to do all the time.

I think you haven’t heard the interview where he talks about the “suicide” of one of his employees:
