Google now controls
- Access to the internet
- Devices using that access
- Software to access websites
- Many of the website you use
- The ads you see
But that’s not enough, apparently

They are children. Wtf is this analogy of yours. Yes, if a starving child that was all alone asked to be fed and then when I told them I didn’t have the means to support them (because, you know, I’m not fucking country, but some countries are in fact countries and have the resources of an entire nation) and would need to send them on their way, yes, I would make sure the starving child that was all alone had some proper way to get somewhere safe and not just send them back on the streets. Not really a wild concept.
And they would have gotten away with it too, if it weren’t for those meddling Whos.
I saw someone suggest Connect for Lemmy yesterday, Android app that has both instance blocking and keyword filtering. Overall the app is fine but until I find something I love that supports the filtering it’s more than sufficient.
I’ve been surprised to not see a bunch of ‘b-b-but it’s only this this hot because of el nino’ nonsense when talking about the current phase of our active climate crisis. Like, yeah, it’s hotter because of the global weather phenomenon that occurs every few years but that’s on top of everything else happening. We may not end up hitting record temps when we’re back in La Nina (but the storm damage will be fucking devastating). But next time around it’s just going to be like this but way way worse as the ocean continues dying, bad algae blooms, good algae withers, and co2 continues to get pumped into our atmosphere with little reprieve.
https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/7/20/stanford-president-resigns-following-research-ethics-probe
The president of Stanford University has stepped down in the wake of an independent investigation that found “substandard practices” in research papers he was involved in.
Already plenty of support for your cause.
There’s only one website I’ve ever visited on IE, Edge, Safari, Chrome and it’s https://getfirefox.com
Well considering the EFF is based in the US, the second sentence of the article mentions the AMERICAN Civil Liberties Union, and halfway through the page is a link to Tell Congress which links to a page to look up your representatives with your UNITED STATES Postal Service zip code, I’m gonna let you put on your thinking cap and figure this one out.
Who sees this gorgeous cat and complains!?!
for one reason or another
Money. The reason is money.
Exactly. That is quite specifically what he wants.
Xxx.xxx.xxx is just an arbitrary subdomain of xxx.xxx though.
You can apparently have up to 127 levels, so long as any level is 63 or less characters and the whole domain string is 253 or less.
I’m not going to type it all but it could be x.x.x.x.x.x…(several many more .x.x)…x.x.x.xxx if they really wanted.
We Lemmy users have seen. I mean everyone has seen I guess, but, it really seems like most people just don’t care. They’d rather have convenience and comfort of big brother squeezing their balls in a vice rather than put a little thought or effort into controlling their own lives and choices.
People already dismiss anything that doesn’t align with their thoughts and feelings. Truth and facts are irrelevant, this changes nothing.
And we’re still here, going strong. Long live the Fediverse.
Finally, I can stop making Pilk and just enjoy it straight
So someone should only care about their progeny, everyone else is ‘irrelevant’. That’s certainly a take.
AdNauseam integrates with UBO, so you’d get both. Basically, it virtualizes clicks on ads so ad sellers get charged for the click but it’s all hidden in the background from you.
That said, I kinda have mixed feelings about it. Ad clicks will help support sites you like, so even if you’re blocking ads you’re still getting ‘served’ and ‘interacting’ with them. On the other hand, it tells sites 'hey all these ads you’re serving aren’t making your website shitty and unusable (but they generally are) so keep it up! And it tells ad agencies and the industry ‘oh yeah we sure love clicking ads keep slapping them in my face at every corner’. And if ad buyers are realizing their clicks are all ghost clicks, they’ll stop buying ad space. Which just means shittier lowest common denominator ads in more places.
Often you’ll find a ‘print recipe’ button somewhere near the top of the page. Click on that, it’ll take you to what you’re looking for without all of the crap nobody cares about.
I’ve been using Connect on Android because it supports keyword filters (musk and reddit alone make my feed much more tolerable) and instance blocking. Was using Jerboa since coming over early June but switched the other day when I read someone mentioning its filtering capabilities.
It’s decent overall, but supreme in eliminating musk spam and lemmynsfw from your All feeds.
