Yeah, delaying it was weird and the wrong call, imo. I have no stake in this, nor do I know or care about the show or the actor, but it just doesn’t make sense to delay something because of its relevance to current events. If the attack had been a mass-casualty event rather than a targeted assassination, I could maybe understand a delay or an onscreen message before the show starts, but otherwise it’s just a strange signal to send. These networks and platforms need to chill the fuck out and understand that taking any direct action against free expression only hurts them in the end. Jon Stewart went back to the Daily Show because of decisions like this.

The other weird thing is they just released the first episode of Slow Horses which began with a politically motivated mass murder and sniper assassination.

“In the last five years since we’ve been making the show, we’ve seen an unfortunate amount of violence in the United States: the kidnapping attempt on Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer; the January 6th attack on the Capitol; the assassination attempts on President Trump; the political assassinations of Democratic representatives in Minnesota; the attack on Speaker Pelosi’s husband; the assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk; the recent shooting at an ABC affiliate station in California; and over 300 school shootings across this country,”

And yet only a specific one of those things caused the show to be paused?

This has been on my watch list for a while. I’ve been looking forward to it. As Variety chief TV critic Aramide Tinubu argued, the “The Savant” is “precisely the type of show America needs right now.”

The movie “Phone booth (2002)” was delayed for similar reasons. In a heated era.

As long as it’s a short and tasteful delay, I don’t see the issue. Canceling it, or holding it indefinitely is a major misstep.

Apple sucking as usual. But this show does seem actually good. I likely wouldn’t have known about it if they hadn’t delayed it.

The YT comments on the trailer are pretty sad. Buncha triggered magats trying to pretend it doesn’t bother them to see extremists accurately portrayed
