How come no one says Die Hard 2?
That’s also set on Christmas eve
One modern one that deserves a mention: 8-Bit Christmas.
That one will likely stick around for us. So well done.
I love The Man Who Invented Christmas, because I’m a sucker for Dan Stevens, and a follow up with The Muppets Christmas Carol is the best.
Emmett Otter’s Jugband Christmas!
It’s time for me to break out my River bottom Nightmare Band metal logo T-shirt
This is a great one. It’s been in our holiday movie rotation for years and it’s always a hit.
Muppet Christmas Carol
Shrek, unironically
I torrented Shrek in like quad audio, the Italian dub is pretty funny.
He’s like “eyy donkeh, no bene!”
Good choice. It has layers.
Die Hard and Violent Night

A Christmas Story
Die HardIt may be predictable, but A Christmas Story. I grew up with it and the 24 hour marathon with my parents and for the most part we still keep the tradition alive with my family. Wrap gifts to it, open gifts to it, waiting to eat dinner and still watching it. Of course you only see snip its throughout the day so its not like I see it 20 times, but more likely around 4 times in a year.

The Man Who Invented Christmas has quickly become a favorite. I’ve always been a sucker for A Christmas Carol and love every iteration of it. Especially the Muppets and Scrooged. But this is a new take on it with the focus on the writing of the book. “And Tiny Tim who DID NOT die…”
Tokyo Godfathers (2003) and The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992)
In no particular order:
- National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
- Elf
- Scrooged
- Miracle on 34th Street (1947)
- Star Wars Holiday Special (I know. Please don’t judge too harshly)
- Violent Night
- A Christmas Horror Story
- A Christmas Story
- At least one of the Rankin/Bass stop motion christmas movies
- How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1966)
Plus others, but those are the ones that tend to get played every year.
